Mark Houldershaw. Woodwork in general has been a passion for Mark since childhood and, since leaving school, also a career.Having a background in constructional joinery has allowed him to further his knowledge and use his time in Lincoln to develop his design consciousness and this in turn has given him the opportunity to investigate different techniques and materials that were new to him.During Marks first and second year he experimented with veneering, shaping, mixing materials and, most importantly to him, the use of constructional joinery as both a fundamental part of the trade but also as a decorative element.Whilst studying furniture design Mark has developed an interest in the Arts and Crafts ethos, of truth to materials and honesty of construction. This is evident in his design work from the thoroughly planned methods employed in the making process to the carefully considered choice of timbers.
